Michael Karangelen is Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Alakai Group LLC. He has over 25 years of experience acquiring companies and supporting management teams in creating value. Prior to forming Alakai, he was CEO of the US for Investindustrial, an investment group with $11 billion of raised capital. He has also been a Managing Director at TowerBrook Capital Partners and a Partner at Brera Capital Partners. Prior to his career in private equity, he was an investment banker for Goldman Sachs in New York and S.G. Warburg in London. Michael is a graduate of Cornell University. Michael has held numerous philanthropic board and leadership roles related to supporting entrepreneurship, education and his local community.
David Eun is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Alakai Group LLC. He has over 25 years of experience in technology and media, acquiring and building consumer products and services. David served as Chief Innovation Officer of Samsung Electronics where he was responsible for identifying and driving future growth opportunities. While at Samsung, David also founded and served as President of Samsung NEXT, a global innovation group that invested in, acquired, built, and grew new businesses spanning diverse sectors including: IoT, Fintech, Cybersecurity, AI, Mediatech and Digital Health, with teams dedicated to venture capital, partnerships, acquisitions/post-merger integration, and product development. Under his leadership, Next made more than 110 investments and led 20+ acquisitions, including businesses that formed the basis for SmartThings, Samsung Pay, Samsung TV Plus, and Samsung Food. Previously, David served as President of AOL Media and Global Head of Content Partnerships and Business Development at Google where he led the post-acquisition integration of YouTube, contributing to its global expansion. David is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School
Charles is joining us from FocusGrowth Asset Management, a private investment firm focused on the cannabis industry, where he was an Associate. Previously, Charles was an Associate in Investment Banking at Bank of America. Charles began his career at Moody’s as a credit research analyst. Charles graduated from NYU Stern School of Business in 2016.
